Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is located 17kms from the centre of Helsinki and is the main gateway to Finland. Originally built in 1958, this is the fourth largest airport in the Nordic countries and this modern airport provides a large number of both international and domestic flights each and every day.

While this large and lovely airport is mainly used for travellers who wish to visit the vibrant city of Helsinki, it also provides domestic connections to a large number of local destinations as well as other places in Scandinavia such as Enontekio, Joensuu, Kemi/Tornio, Kokkola/Jakobstad, Kuopio, Kuusamo, Pori, Savonlinna, Tallinn, Tampere, and Vaasa.

Around 90 per cent of all Finland’s international air traffic is handled by Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and around 12.6 million passengers pass through here each and every year. Featuring two large terminals, this innovative airport has been modernised many times over the years and the airport has been voted one of the best airports in Europe for the last 10 years running.

A total of 33 different airlines operate out of Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, providing direct connections to 120 destinations around the world. While Finnair is the airport’s flag carrier, other prominent airlines that operate here include British Airways, EasyJet, Air Finland, Aer Lingus, Austrian Airlines and Air Berlin.

Direct routes are available to a large number of popular international destinations, including Athens, Barcelona, Berlin-Tegel, Moscow-Sheremetyevo, London-Gatwick, Dublin, Copenhagen and Stockholm-Arlanda. In fact, around 1,100 international and 700 domestic scheduled flights depart from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport each and every week, including fast, non-stop flights to 10 destinations in Asia as well as daily flights to New York.
